About Us
We bought our first Akita over 20 years ago. It began when I met my friend's Akita, which was beautiful. I was searching for a dog that was loyal and would protect my family. After doing my research, I knew an Akita was the breed for us. I researched a variety of sources including the internet, books, and other breed owners. I went to local dog shows to get a closer look at the breed before making my first purchase. I fell in love with the Akita and sought out my first puppy. I found my first Akita and brought her home in the 1990's. If you have never owned an Akita please go to our FAQ page to find out if this is the breed for you. Please note that this is not the breed for everyone and we want our babies to go to loving homes.

Our Goal
We at Black Bayou Akitas want to share our love of this wonderful breed. We have chosen our Akitas from champion bloodlines. Our goal is to produce healthy, happy, socialized puppies that will make a great family addition. Our puppies are raised with our family including our two small children. Our adults are kept on heart worm preventatives. We deworm our dogs and are kept up to date on shots. We register our dogs through the the AKC. Our Shire has his AKC DNA Certification. Our Akitas are fed high quality dog and puppy food. Our puppies are dewormed every two weeks starting at two weeks of age. They are kept up to date on shots until they go to their new homes.
Akitas are loving and loyal, but also independent. Black Bayou Akitas is located in Northwest Louisiana. We are north of Shreveport and Bossier City, in Benton, Louisiana (LA). Please contact us for more information on our Akitas. If you are purchasing a puppy to fight, we will refuse to sell to you. We want our babies to live in loving homes. We reserve the right to refuse selling a puppy to anyone for any reason.
